Back up your files off-site, for less than a coffee a month.
disk.ie keeps your files and backups safe in a different location from your laptop or office. Point the backup tool you already use at it and you are protected against fire, theft and ransomware. No new app to learn.
Sign in with the same account you use across the Netquirk service network.
Why disk.ie
Off-site backup that just works
A small set of honest reasons people pick disk.ie, in the words the customers actually use.
Safe off-site copies
Your data lives in a different physical location from your laptop or office. A fire, flood or theft at one cannot reach the other.
Works with the tools you already use
disk.ie speaks the same language as Amazon S3. rclone, restic, aws cli, Cyberduck — anything that backs up to S3 works with disk.ie out of the box.
Simple, honest pricing
Pay for the storage you use. No surprise egress fees for restoring your own backups — restore as often as you need.
Encrypted in transit and at rest
Traffic to and from disk.ie is encrypted with HTTPS. Data on the disk is encrypted before it is written. Your access keys are the only way in.
One account across the Netquirk service network
Sign in with the my.netquirk.com account you may already have. No separate disk.ie password.
No lock-in
Standard S3. List and download every file in every bucket with the AWS CLI and move them anywhere you like, whenever you want.
How it works
Three steps to your first backup
For the user, not for the system behind it. There is no separate disk.ie app to install.
-
Create an account
Sign in once at
my.netquirk.com. If you have used another Netquirk service, you are a minute away from being set up. -
Connect your backup tool
Create an access key from the dashboard and point your backup tool at
https://s3.disk.ie. Copy-paste instructions foraws cli, rclone, resticand Cyberduck are in the quick start. -
Done
Your first backup runs the same evening and every evening after that, to a separate physical location from where your laptop lives.
Standard tools
Use the backup tool you already trust
disk.ie speaks the same wire protocol as Amazon S3. That means the backup apps you may already have on your laptop or server — restic, rclone, the AWS CLI, Cyberduck, and many more — work with disk.ie unchanged. Configure the endpoint, paste your access key, and the same tool that backs up to anywhere else backs up to disk.ie.
- AWS Signature Version 4 or pre-signed URLs — the same auth model you already know.
- Bucket names, key names and prefixes — exactly as in any other S3 service.
- No proprietary file format on disk; you can read every byte with the AWS CLI.
$ aws --endpoint-url https://s3.disk.ie \

Encryption
Encrypted at every step
Files travel over HTTPS to disk.ie, and they are encrypted again before they are written to disk. The keys that read them back sit with you, in the access keys you generate from the dashboard. There are no embedded analytics, no third-party tags, and no back door — the dashboard, the storage and the data all live on the same disk.ie infrastructure.
- TLS 1.3 in transit, AES-256 at rest.
- Access keys mint from the dashboard, shown once, revocable at any time.
- No telemetry, no third-party analytics, no embedded trackers on this site.
Off-site by design
A second copy, far enough away to count
The point of off-site backup is that a single physical event cannot take out both copies. disk.ie stores your data on infrastructure that is independent of your home or office network. The certificate that the encrypted bytes are still readable and still match the originals is re-checked on a schedule so it is not a claim — it is a measurement.
- Hosted independently of any home or office network you use.
- Drills that read back the encrypted bundles and compare their digests, run on a cadence and checked in public.
- You can download everything you uploaded with the AWS CLI at any time.
Frequently asked questions
Short answers
The questions we get most often on chat and email. The long answers are on the FAQ page.
What does disk.ie actually store?
Whatever you back up to it: documents, photos, server snapshots, databases, source repositories. Each item sits in a bucket — like a folder — and you decide what goes in.
How is this different from a regular cloud drive?
A cloud drive is a sync app you have to remember to use. disk.ie is a target for backup software that runs on a schedule, keeps history, and verifies yesterday's files are still readable today.
Do I need to install anything?
No disk.ie app to install. Use a backup tool you already trust — rclone, restic, the AWS CLI, Cyberduck — and point it at https://s3.disk.ie. The quick start walks through the commands.
Where is my data physically kept?
On disk.ie infrastructure. The data-centre city, the operator and the certifications will be listed on this site when they are ready. Existing customers can see the data-centre region on the plan page in their account.
What happens if I stop paying?
Your files stay readable for a short grace window. We email you before any data is removed and you can download everything with the AWS CLI before then.
Is there a free tier?
You can create an account at my.netquirk.com and see whether a trial is available for your situation. Final pricing will be published on the pricing page when the rate cards are ready.
